(Work's busy enough that these posts will be shorter than last year. I'm sure folks aren't too upset about that.)
The Deal of the Day is: 20% off various Kindles! That puts the Fire HDX at $184 (with special offer screen) or $195 (without)!
The other DotD is the Panasonic Lumix ZS20 14.1 MP High Sensitivity MOS Digital Camera with 20x Optical Zoom for $172 (50% off). That's over $100 off what others offer it at.
The Kindle Daily Deal is on books aimed at readers 7-12 years old for $1.99 each, and includes books by Kevin Henkes, Katherine Applegate, Chris Rylander, and others. There's also a daily deal on the same page for Brom's The Child Thief for $1.99.
Other Kindle deals worth noting: Richard Ford's Canada is $1.99. Ditto Val McDermid's A Darker Domain. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is $2.99. Slaughterhouse-Five is $2.50 (and Welcome to the Monkey House is $1.99).
Richard Wright's Native Son is $1.99, and I'd also suggest that anyone who's read or thinkging about reading it listen to the superb American Icons piece that Studio 360 did on the book (and Wright) earlier this year.
Allison Gaylin's Into the Dark (the latest Brenna Spector novel) is only $.99. If you're a fan of traditional private eye novels, this is a blast, and probably one of my favorites from the last few years. It's not groundbreaking in the way that, say, Sara Gran has been, but it's well-crafted, and does some really nifty stuff with the characters. Of course, it's the second book in the series, so you might want to snag And She Was first.
In movies and TV, the Blu-Ray Deal of the Week is on Stargate, with the complete run of Stargate: Atlantis going for $59.99 (70% off). Even though it's part of the "Blu-Ray" deal, you can nab the DVD version of Atlantis for $34.99 (65% off), and the DVD run of Stargate: SG-1 for $59.99 (70% off).
The Family Deal of the Week is on Disney Blu-Ray Hits for up to 55% off. This includes somer recent movies like Oz The Great and Powerful and Wreck-it Ralph, as well as classics like Mulan, Robin Hood, Newsies, The Rocketeer, and The Emperor's New Groove (and more).
The TV Deal of the Week is on classic TV westerns, with Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, and The Wild Wild West all on sale at huge discounts. The latter, in particular, is worth nabbing for only $30.
And the Collections Deal of the Week is on M*A*S*H: The Complete Series and M*A*S*H The Movie for $99.99 (70% off). As a bonus feature, this set does not include AfterMASH (which, I'm a little ashamed to admit, I watched religiously as a kid).
Also on sale: The Duchess of Duke Street: Complete Collection for $22.49 (72% off), and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital for $9.99 (60% off).
And the ridiculous UA 90th Anniversary Prestige Collection (with 90 different movies!) is $199.99 (77% off)! Really, who wouldn't pay that just for Heaven's Gate?
In video games, Batman: Arkham City (Game of the Year Edition) is $9.99 (50% off) for Xbox or PS3, while Bioshock Infinite is $19.99 (50% off) for both systems.
In toys, the K'NEX 375 Piece Deluxe Building Set is back down to $10 (50% off). And there's a 40% off sale on a bunch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toys (as well as other stuff, like the four movies and TMNT Duct Tape).
And finally, the Philips DC290/37 30-Pin iPod/iPhone Alarm Clock Speaker Dock is $49.95 (50% off). Note that this works with the bigger (older) iPod/Phone plug, but you can add an adapter for $1.89 and still keep it nearly $50 below the price other dealers have it at.
