Amazon deals: Harry Potter, Gotye, Twisted Metal, free crime stories

The Kindle edition of By Hook or By Crook and 27 More of the Best Crime and Mystery Stories of the Year is free from Amazon today! It's edited by Martin Greenberg and Ed Gorman, and has a bunch of good folks associated with it (Lehane, Collins, etc). Note that the year in question is 2009.

The MP3 of the day is Gotye's Making Mirrors for $5 (just in time to hear "Somebody that I Used to Know" covered on Glee tonight, and performed live by Gotye this weekend on SNL).

The Deal of the Day is any of the first six Harry Potter movies for $3.99 digitally.

And the new Twisted Metal for the PS3 is $39.99, 33% off the normal price.

A Game of Thrones concern

So, I haven't read the series (although I've listened to most of the first book as an audiobook). And I often forget characters given how bloody huge the world is.

But something still bothered me this week.

Help me out, Wisconsin folks

I'm heading to Milwaukee for a conference later this month.

I do not want to give a red cent to any business or person that supports Walker's war on equality.

I'm staying at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, and I don't have any control over that. But I have total control over how I spend my per diem on meals, as well as what cab/transportation company I use to get to and from the airport. Not to mention how I spend any personal money on things like bookstores.

Locals (or anyone familiar with the area), doing the "search nearby" option at the link above shows me a ton of restaurants. If you know of any that have fought against this bullshit (or have rowdily cheered Walker's actions), let me know. Ditto any other local companies.

ETA: Also, I'll have an afternoon free, and will be near the Milwaukee Public Museum. Worth going to?
