Wednesday stuff
Let's start with the really important item:
Happy Anniversary to
morenasangre and
farren, two of the most wonderful people in the entire world!
Quiz time for the old-school gamers: http://www.pbs.org/kcts/videogamerevolution/arcade/name/name_that_game.swf
I got a 15/18, and would probably have done better if I'd been thinking more of the 2600 version of one of the games, instead of the arcade one.
Anyone who wants Peter David's upcoming 6-issue run on The Hulk to continue should look at this site.
And anyone who wants to buy the screenplay for The War For the Oaks (and other nifty screenplays by Shetterly, Bull, Mike Baron, and others) should go here.
And you know you want one of these. At least, I sure do.
Finally, Amazon's new multi-purpose search engine, A9 is available. It's nifty so far -- Google combines with Alexa and the Amazon database. A nice, clean interface, image searches on the same page as a web search, and some interesting ideas with bookmarks and remembering previous visits. Still not replacing Google, but it's something I'll keep an eye on.

Afternoon reading and other stuff
I've been trying to convince
shadesong to write the next damned part of
placesyouhaunt asap. This is why I prefer graphic novels to comics, dammit -- I hate waiting for the next part of a story (Edwin Drood, anyone?). I'm damned proud of what my sweetie's writing here (and having seen what she's been dealing with firsthand recently vis-a-vis all the physical shit she's been going through, I'm even more impressed that she's putting out something this good).
EDIT: She posted the next part as I was writing this post. :-)
It's not quite as deep, but The Onion's dead-on with their piece on Dick Cheney returning to Camp Crystal Lake. Although I personally can't imagine Dicky Dick getting his hands dirty.
Howe's gone! Hooray! Now if we can only get rid of the Wilpons and Duquette, I'd be real happy.
Gmail folks -- watch out for this scam. As always, anytime someone emails you asking for your password, assume it's a con. It will be.

Next DVD on my list!
Shaolin Soccer is finally available on a non-import DVD! And, for once, Disney included the proper version as well as the theatrical massacre! Woohoo!
