That's a shitty comment by Steve Ballmer. 98% percent of the songs on my ipod are from CDs I own, purchased on Itunes or received free from itunes either through "Free Music Tuesdays" or from that "Free Songs from Pepsi" contest they had from January to April. That other 2% that I have download online are songs that you just can't get from itunes or purchase such as artists covering other artists songs in live concerts.

People who own ipods are generally people who love music and have huge music collections, and want to keep it all in one tiny place.
