Free Vertigo #1s online!

DC/Vertigo has full downloadable #1 issues of various books online (in some cases, like Doom Patrol or Swamp Thing, "#1" means "first issue by a the guy who turned the book around). The format's not ideal (I much prefer .cbr to pdf), but the price is. Books include Hellblazer, Sandman, Human Target, The Invisibles, Y: The Last Man, Fables, and Transmetropolitan (amongst others).

I can't load that page (because it's really popular, I assume), so I'll ask here: is it actually Alan Moore's first issue of Swamp Thing (issue #20, which hardly ever appears in compilations), or is it #21?

That's a good point. HIs first issue was #20, but the first issue that Vertigo presents is, indeed, #21 (The Anatomy Lesson). I have no idea why #20 is never collected, to be honest.

I think it's because when the first collection was done, somebody decided that #20 was just wrapping up the previous storylines, so it didn't matter as much. And then as Moore's run on Swamp Thing ascended into the realm of legend, the tradition had already been set.
