Big Rapids, MI

So, it looks like I'll be attending Resnet (in June) for the first time ever. In fucking Big Rapids, MI (yes, I get to fly into Gerald Ford Airport).

I'm so fucking excited. I miss the conference when it's in Buffalo and Stanford and U of Penn, but I get to go to MI (since Kathy, who normally goes, can't). On the plus side, I've got dibs on Resnet the next time it's someplace cool.

And worse, I'm assuming that [livejournal.com profile] kiwitayro and [livejournal.com profile] mendoza no longer go. Is anyone I know going to be at the conference, or will I have to gamble at the Indian Casinos all by myself?

Oh, for those not in academic IT, Resnet is a national conference for folks dealing with residential computing concerns on campuses. Emory hosted the best one in 1998.

/me waves to you from Ann Arbor, MI. Too bad it's not here, I'd buy you a coffee or a beer, your choice.

Either way, welcome, in advance, to Michigan.

Please forgive my lack of willingness to go to yet another IT con, but I'd be more than happy to gamble with you.... :)

Alas, no. I no longer work at Brown and even if I did, the idiotic, pus-licking fuckmonkey that was my former boss wouldn't send me on anything that could possibly be construed as "educational" or worse yet, "enjoyable".

Jeez, I had no idea I was still so bitter. I guess working for a Deep One will do that to a girl.

Best of luck in MI, and bring lots of good books.

Hmm...

I come to your journal via [livejournal.com profile] ealuscerwen's friends list, but...

by odd coincidence my parents live in Big Rapids, Michigan. It's not great, but it's not the world's worst small town.

I can't believe they're holding a conference, though.
