It's over!
Presentation is over! Went okay. I had about twenty people (which is fine), and bullshitted until the cows came home. I talked too fast, and stumbled over my words, as always.
We got the evals immediately, and most of them were way better than I expected. Only one asshole (who had the nerve to give me a 1 out of 5 on "knowledge of subject." It's only my fucking career. Motherfucking asshat. Call my presentation bad, and I'm fine. But don't tell me I don't know my shit.
But otherwise, people were pretty happy with my presentation, more than I expected. And since everyone else said that I know my shit, I'm okay with the results.
And now I can relax. :-)
I'm in the second presentation of the day, and since we have wireless access, I can catch up on LJ while sitting here.
There are lots of Macs here. And all the presenters are basically wearing t-shirts (I'm wearing the O'Reilly 25th anniversary one that was handed out at lunch yesterday). I like this conference. I may look at being on the program committee for next year.
After lunch, we're being bused to Lake Michigan, where we will hit the beach, the boardwalk, and a casino. Alas, I don't think I'll have wireless from there, so don't expect to see much of me today.
The session I'm at right now is a great one on various sociological changes in online interaction. Some nifty research is coming out of Stanford.

I remember giving a paper at a Mathematics in Sport conference, which was much less formal than I had guessed it would be. My boss saw me in shirt and tie, ordered me to remove the tie, and gave me huge t-shirt to put on over the shirt. Helped me get into a relaxed frame of mind- very useful.

Haha...I can totally relate to that. I talk kinda fast anyway, and I get nervous when talking to a group, so it just gets worse! I'm up there babbling at 100mph. ;)

If you ever get a chance to take a Stage Speech class or something like that, go for it. It really helped Clint and me.
