More cheap-ass TV DVDs

Amazon is having yet another 40% off sale on Fox TV DVDs, as well as another 40% off random first seasons sale.. With the exception of one show that just plain blows (and doesn't belong on a list of otherwise-quality TV), these are pretty good ones. Firefly, Wonderfalls, Arrested Development Season 1, Greg the Bunny, and Keen Eddie are some of my favorites that I already own, and The 4400, Star Trek: TOS Season 1, Murder One, The Lone Gunmen, and Chappelle's Show Season 1 are high on my list of shows to purchase.

I think I've raved about every one of those shows at one time or another, excluding 4400 and Chapelle, which I haven't seen, but have heard damned fine things about.

400 miniseries is most excellent. I'm still withholding judgment on season 2.

I'm mesmerized by one of the Amazon.com reviews of Chappelle's Show Season 1:

'Dave Chapelle Is a Funny an That will make you laugh a any means Neccesary . He will have your family laughing.'

So we need a t-shirt: '[livejournal.com profile] yendi Is a Funny an That will make you laugh a any means Neccesary . He will have your family laughing.'

And then of course there's The Matrix Reloaded: 'This was a good Movie Kind Of Long though you may asleep on it. Jada Pinkett & Nona Gaye Did their thing.'

Argh. Wanted to get TOS as a gift for [livejournal.com profile] adrian76, but this *would* be Teh Broke Week. First LJ Permanent account stuff, and now this. :P

Thanks. I've been watching e-bay for Firefly, planning on getting it when I could find a copy around $30. Even better to get a brand new copy for that cost.

Chappelles Show is worth the hype. Put it this way: I bought both seasons instead of just putting them on my Netflix queue. They're that funny.

I haven't heard much, good or bad, about The 4400, and in that case I'm much like you - hate coming in the middle of something, much prefer to start from the beginning.

I haven't picked up Wonderfalls yet, so this sounds like as good a time as any.

'Everyone I know adores Chappelle. I need to just cave and Tivo a few episodes, finally.'

I have to credit/blame [livejournal.com profile] listeningowl for getting me addicted to Chappelle. Every episode has at least one hilarious bit of business, and the Wayne Brady sketch ('Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?') is one of the top ten funniest things I've ever seen on TV.

Hello. I'm Teddy Hoffman.
Buy Murder One or I will stare at you
and talk to you in a menacing monotone until
you die.

God, I loved that show...

I watched the first season religiously. It kind of lost me when LaPaglia took over -- not because of him (he was good) but because the show threw away its one-trial-per-season conceit and thus its uniqueness.

I was amused just now to discover that Benzali is apparently quite the crooner. Here's his website (http://www.danielbenzali.com/).

*SQUEE* God, the Devil, and Bob! That show was too funny, and far too short. *wonders how to get the money and prevent husband from murdering her for bringing more clutter into their lives*

hrm...

So do we jump now on Firefly, or wait for something better? Holiday sale, maybe?
