Wife: So, our show has been a huge hit, and the last season was so good, people were talking about how revitalized the show was.
Husband: Yup. Even the episodes I wrote were considered good.
Wife: So, what can we do to top things?
Husband: I dunno. Maybe add a neurotic dog and focus on annoying guest characters like the brother-in-law, ignore almost all of the younger supporting cast members unless we need a quick moment of comic relief, and have our star starting acting all diva-like and become the subject of nasty gossip?
Wife: Well, that's a good start. But it's not enough. Wait! I know! Let's add a precocious and over-the-top twelve-year-old to the show! And make her related to someone we've already known for years, whose every other relative or in-law that we've seen has been so annoying, people have changed the channel when they come on!
Husband: That's a great idea! No show has ever gotten worse with the sudden introduction of a new child!
Wife: Exactly! But what to name her? Hmm, how about April?
Husband: That's good. But what about a last name. Maybe April Jumptheshark?
Wife: Brilliant!
