Birthday stuff
Mar. 31st, 2006 10:26 amSince at least two people have asked, I figure I'll get this out of the way:
My birthday is in eight days (seven, if you're currently in Australia), on April 8.
I don't "want" anything, per se. Or, more accurately, the things I want are too ludicrously tough to come by to be likely gifts: a good job in Boston, a lottery win, medical solutions for
shadesong, etc.
More realistically, I'm not really looking for, or expecting, any "little" gifts. I don't consider friendship to be something that hinges on people giving gifts, nor does the quality/quantity of gifts given necessarily relate to how good a person is. That goes doubly so, in these times when most people I know (ourselves included) are dealing with various monetary frustrations.
That said, I'm also not dedicated to living some monklike ascetic existence. So for those of you who really feel some bizarre obligation to get me stuff (and why anyone other than
shadesong would feel such an obligation, I don't know), I do have an Amazon wishlist, and although it's largely there as my own personal shopping list (for when I get money or gift certificates, I remember the nifty book I read about on LJ or in a magazine), it's also something that you're welcome to use.
For those who feel some desire to get me other gifts, our mailing address can be found here.
For those who want to get me virtual gifts, my KOL character wouldn't turn down any of the Big Rares, or anything nifty, really, so if you've got a Tiny Plastic Sword, you know, I wouldn't say no. :-) And I'd feel a lot less guilty about getting gifts that only cost virtual money (or meat, as it were).
I also wouldn't turn down the opportunity to take my wife to see Slither, which I suspect that
shadesong and I can't bring Elayna to (although, if recent experience going to the movies is any indicator, we're two of the only parents who wouldn't). I'm a cheap date. :-)
