Some damned interesting Nintendo history
Apr. 4th, 2006 09:53 amAfter weeks of almost nothing worth reading, The Escapist has three nifty articles this week in their Nintendo-centric issue:
1. A look at Nintendo Power Magazine compared to the other official video game magazines.
2. The massive legal battles involving Donkey Kong, Coleco, Nintendo, and Universal. Universal ended up hoisting itself on their own petard in this one. This article also reveals the reasons behind the naming of two beloved Nintendo characters: Mario and Kirby.
3. The troubled development history of Metroid Prime.
That last article, in turn, links to this article at n-sider.com on the fall and rise of Retro Studios.
All damned interesting reading if you're at all into console gaming.
