Palladium Books in trouble

Palladium Books, publishers of Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, and other notable gaming lines, is facing some severe financial woes. Publisher Kevin Siembieda's post goes into more detail about the problems (and how you can help) than I could hope to, so follow the link if you're interested.

I'm curious as to what's going on that they can't speak about because of legal issues.

The whole internal treachery and skullduggery thing intrigues me.

Both of those were amongst my initial reactions, which is why I let his post speak for itself. Regardless of anything that KS has done, however, there are a lot of people who would be hurt if Palladium went under.

I have nothing personal against Kevin or his company. His game products have good production values, the art is always good, and there is a lot of imagination in the ideas. That said, the game system is broken beyond repair, and I just don't have the energy to convert Rifts (R) into Hero System terms.

There is something so very wrong with a game where a low-level, non-trustworthy trooper can have a personal knife (not sword, knife) that does enough damage to instantly disintegrate a normal human.
