Friday: Went to Elayna's school's silent auction/raffle/movie to keep the kids occupied. We spent $20 on tickets, and managed to snag the Ren Faire tix, so we got our money's worth (although I'd have liked to get some of the foodie prizes).

Saturday: We dropped Elayna off at a friend's birthday sleepover at 2, which gave us all day to ourselves (*gasp*). So, we did what any couple does when the kid's out of the house -- see an R-rated movie*! We caught Slither at the dollar theatre up in Duluth (located in the Santa Fe Mall, which is an experience unto itself). It was, not surprisingly, damned fine, with great performances from Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, and the scene-stealing Gregg Henry. As with so many horror/comedies, it didn't receive nearly enough love from the critics or the fans, but I highly recommend it.

We then spent two hours in a Barnes and Noble, and walked away with only five books (Down the Rabbit Hole: An Echo Falls Mystery for Elayna, Mind Wide Open and Phantoms in the Brain for 'song, Warriors of God: Richard the Lionheart and Saldin in the Third Crusade for me, and The Confusion for both of us, as we needed to complete the Baroque Cycle). No better way to kill time, really.

After that, we were off to The Melting Pot, where we gorged ourselves silly on fondue.

Sunday: Mother's Day. 'song's gifts included Stiff (which she'd been wanting to read for a while), The Vosges Collezione Italiano, and a Calm Attention Deficit Demon in KOL. Yeah, we're geeks.

We picked Miss Kid up and headed to Decatur, where we had Jake's Ice Cream (mmm, Coffee and Donuts), followed by lunch at Noodle and coffee at Javamonkey. After which, we came home and rested.

Today is Emory's commencement, so I'm working from home to avoid the crowds/lack of parking.

*Actually, there's an ever-growing group of fucktards who seem to think that R-rated movies are the perfect place for their kids. These assholes, along with the folks who chat on cell phones during the movie, will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
