Freddy Garcia on the market?
Jul. 14th, 2006 12:29 pmJon Heyman is reporting that Freddy Garcia is on the trading block, and that the Mets are a potential buyer. What worries me is that the Sox want Duaner Sanchez for him, and if the Mets bite, it's a bad deal. Sanchez is one of the two or three top set-up men in all of baseball right now, and is one of the major reasons the Mets are in first place. Garcia's solid, but his ten wins come with an era of nearly 5.00. That's not pretty, and shows that he benefits a lot from his 6.26 run support.
Not saying that Garcia wouldn't be an improvement (if we gave up, say, one of Heilman or Bell), but he's not the same pitcher he was a few years ago.
