As noted by [livejournal.com profile] tablesaw, there's already an online presence for Season Three of Veronica Mars.

There's a website with case files here (not dissimilar from what UPN had up during Season One).

But there's also an LJ community for [livejournal.com profile] hearst_college, where Veronica will be going next fall. The latter is already populated with a number of "students," including Michael Cera's character, Dean.

The website (and associated Youtube page) is unquestionably created by the folks behind the show. The LJ presence could well be a fan-run effort, but it's a damned fine one. I don't doubt that there'll be a myspace presence, but frankly, I could care less about that (Veronica and Mac would turn their noses up at such a crappy site).

Oh, I'm glad you saw it. I meant to e-mail you a loink to bring it to your attention, but I fell asleep instead.

You really think the website is done by the Veronica Mars production people? But it's so poorly shot and acted! I feel like they would have gotten a better actor who made it even more realistic as an amateur video. The kid fumbles his lines and sounds really flaming. And the dog noise is obviously recorded. If it was really a VMars production I think they could have afforded to use a real dog.

In the latest issue of Wizard Magazine (#180), there's an interview with Kristen Bell on the upcoming season on page 84 where she hints that the first of the three mysteries for the season will be uncovering the unknown rapist on campus. She got Troy off the hook, but she didn't figure out who did it.

Unless this guy shows up in the first couple episodes and she follows up specifically on his story, I'm not buying that this is official or anything other than a fervent fan's attempt at viral buzz generation for his favorite show.

Low-budget is one thing. Amateur actor who doesn't even appear realistic as an amateur is another. He looks like he wrote it himself and flubbed it even then.
