It's come up a few times, so for those wondering which teams I'll be following once the move is complete, a reminder: I'm not a fucking fair-weather fan. It takes years for any team to win me over.

So:

Baseball: The Mets are still my team of choice, and they always will be. I'll still root for the Twins over in the AL, although I'm not nearly as religious on that one. And with MLB, of course, unlike any other sport, I'm happy to watch any two teams play (even the Devil Rays and Cubs). The Red Sox have a wonderful history, and I love the park, so I'll certainly follow them, but I don't think I'll ever identify myself as anything but a Mets fan.

Football: The Jets are my team. Which means that the only way I could ever root for the Pats is if they're playing the Dolphins (who are officially the only team I always want to see lose). Even then, I'd cheer for a stray ball that manages to bean both Belichick and Kraft.

Hockey: The Thrashers are the only Atlanta team that I consider myself loyal to. That said, I don't have any abiding hatred for the Bruins, so I'm willing to cheer 'em on unless they're playing my boys.

Basketball: The NBA has been dead to me for nearly ten years now. I cold give a rat's ass about the Celtics, the Knicks, or the Hawks.

Tennis: Oh, come on! How could anyone not root for the Boston Lobsters?

Lacrosse: I just don't care that much, but I'll cheer for the Boston team.

Arena Football: Go Dragons! They'll never replace the Knights, except for the whole not sucking thing.

MLS: Viva la Revolucion! Except at the end of the day, it's still soccer, isn't it? Still, it beats a kick in the head or an NBA game.

it's nice to see a sports fan that follows the meaning of "fanatic". Spastic "get on the bandwagon" monkeys annoy me. When the angels won the series, people didn't believe i was a diehard...i'm old enough to have been a fan when Gene Autrey owned them and that was the REASON I became a fan (the whole Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and singing cowboy thing).

And Dallas (any sport) is the town I always want to see lose.

Baseball for me has always been about the Astros, but slowly the Mets have started to creep into my heart. It all started with Billy Wagner really.

Football is well a toss up at best. First I liked the Oilers, then I got into the Bears when the Oilers moved/ceased to exist. Then the Texans came into existence which is the equivalent of hitting practice for the rest of the league so I started rooting for the Steelers. So I basically root for three teams for football.

Hockey, is that even a sport?

Basketball is boooooooooooooooooooooooring and no one can shoot anymore.

Tennis, I'll watch the US Open when it comes around but that is about it.

The rest need not be mentioned.

What teams do you root against?

I'm St. Louis all the way. And I'm still pissed they let the football Cardinals take the name.

But it's amusing living in TN, since they love their loser Titans and I can still say "we beat you by a yard, you losers."
