I'm less bothered by what #3 did in terms of adding to the mythology (which was fine) than I am by what it did from a storytelling pov to the previous movie. Taken away from that history, it's actually a solid film.
As far as #4 goes, I guess I just didn't feel that the clone plotline was interesting enough to really add to the mythos at all.
