KOL update: Victory is mine!

I have completed by first Hardcore Oxy run (as a Disco Bandit)! Took me 29 days, which is shorter than three of my regular Hardcore runs (including my HC Disco Bandit one). I'm now back in HCO as an Accordion Thief.

1,229. Better than any of my non-Oxy runs, actually, but I think that's because Oxy encourages you to be frugal (and not to bother with side-quests like White Citadel).

Another reason for a lower turncount is probably that you're not spending any turns looking for food or booze.

Out of curiosity, did you have any significant trouble in the Hole in the Sky as a moxie class? It seems like it'd be hard to get your moxie up high enough to not get crushed there, short of using a lot of reagent potions (which is the approach I will probably take when I get to AT and DB).

Anyway, enjoy Oyster Egg Day; it is such a handy holiday when it comes in the early part of a hardcore run.

I found the Moxie classes much easier than the myst ones, to be honest, but I did perm Saucecrafting and use lots of Tomato Juice. I also used Hair Spray and the Accordian Thief Moxius Madrigal skill, as well as relying on the level 8 crossbow.

That said, having a Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot was also a huge help.

I certainly like the NPZR against the Naughty Sorceress and in a few other areas, though mostly I stick to either a sleazy gravy fairy, volleyball or sombrero.

I'll have moxious madrigal by the time I get to any oxycore runs, and I've already got Advanced Saucecrafting. I guess I'll just have to see what things are like when the time comes. I'm mildly terrified of NS13 bringing mandatory zones that might require buffed moxie of over 200 to not be hit in, though.

I use the same familiars (getting the Sleazy Gravyy Fairy's accessory is easiest, after all).

I figure that if NS13 does that, we'll also be higher statted anyway, so it should be possible.

... what keeps you and others coming back to KoL? For my part, I couldn't make it through a single Naughty Sorceress Quest. KoL was fun at first, particularly the Misspelled Cemetary -- but I got big-time diminishing returns.

I've found that the constant updates to the game, as well as the social community and the fact that each ascension adds new skills (and ascending hardcore offers challenges), keeps me interested.
