Quick American Idol comment

The in-laws are making us watch American Idol. As far as I can tell, Simon Cowell is the only intelligent person in that entire crowd. And I'm definitely including the live audience, who seem to have a collective IQ of sixty-three.

The few times I have watched that show, Simon has been the only thing I lived for.

Funnily enough, on the video game version of American Idol they have three judges too, and Simon's the only one whose judging makes any sense at all. The others just praise me constantly and never say anything of use; Simon actually calls you on it if you miss a line or warble.

On the other hand, that makes it all the sweeter when you sing the song perfectly and he can't find anything to complain about.

Simon is rough around the edges (to say the least), but I agree with him the most of anyone. It was funny. Tonight Karen and I were watching and I said to her, "the reason I love Melinda Doolittle is that she sounds so much like Gladys Knight." Thirty seconds later, Simon called her a young Gladys Knight.

Great minds think alike. :)

To be fair to Paula, though, her stupidity seems to be mostly chemically induced. She has an excuse though, she's on American Idol...
