Kristen at E posted a correction last night, noting that the show is still technically on the bubble, with cancellation being the strongest possibility, and a format change (fast-forwarding to Veronica's years with the FBI) being on the table as well. The column has more info, including how best to contact the CW to show your support.

...aren't "format change" and "shark jump" largely synonymous?

I was going to say, on your last post, that I wasn't all that sad to see VM go. It's struggled to retain the clarity of vision that it had in season 1, and it hasn't done so well. On the other hand, I think a format change could be really incredible for this show, though I would demand that Enrico Colantoni be retained as a cast member.

On the other other hand, I'd love to see Rob Thomas develop a show for Showtime or HBO where he could take the time to plan out full seasons to the detail that VM had.

It's a small glimmer of hope, but I'm not holding my breath. As much as I'd like to see VMars do the Clarice Starling thang...

Besides--can you see Veronica fitting into the FBI? I can't. She's too independent and too willing to skirt (or outright break) the law to fit into the FBI culture. I don't think she'd be able to make through training, much less be successful as an FBI agent afterward. Nor do I think she'd be happy.

I don't think retooling the show as "Veronic Mars, FBI Agent" would work.

Of course, I've been wrong before.
