A handful of DVD, videogame and book deals have hit at Amazon for the first time in a while:

1. There are got two decent Deals of the Day: The "main" one is on Family Guy, Volumes 1-4 (Seasons 1-5), going for combined $71.99 (60% off). The videogame DotD is World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, going for $24.99 (38% off). In both cases, the prices are great, but I suspect that most of the core audience has already gotten the items (or, in the case of Family Guy, enough of the sets to reduce the value of the deal).

2. Not mentioned as a DotD, Mega Man ZX for the Nintendo DS is going for $19.83 (34% off).

3. There's a huge Indie and International DVD sale, with prices from 37-50% off. The 236 DVDs include Little Miss Sunshine, Secretary, Glengary Glen Ross, Layer Cake, Kung Fu Hustle, Blue Velvet, French and Saunders, Six-String Samurai, Y Tu Mama Tambien, The Werner Herzog Collection, Audition, The Machinist, Boxing Helena, The Reckoning, The Alec Guinnesss Collection, and more.

4. In books, the latest-in-the-series from Jim Butcher (White Night, $13.17) and Kim Harrison (For a Few Demons More, $12.07) are going for 45% off. Ditto the latest from Jodi Picoult (Nineteen Minutes: A Novel, $14.82).

5. And finally, The World's Largest Crossword Puzzle is on sale for $10.15 (61% off). It must be good -- one reviewer use 57 exclamation marks!

That first one sounds like a good deal except for one thing. Family Guy is a horrid blight upon all that is good and decent and most especially, funny. And the sale on White Night is annoying since I just bought it when it came out. Though the Harrison one I'm (eventually) getting from the Zooba book club for slightly less...

Um, yes, well, except for the minor detail that the puzzle itself blows goats, with mediocre clues, unchecked letters out the proverbial wazoo.... *cough* Okay, shutting the hell up now. Sorry. [/annoyingly pedantic puzzle guy]

Possibly. I'll have to look into it...

Oh and have you checked out the annotated Anita Blake comic (http://the-isb.blogspot.com/2007/04/annotated-anita-blake-vampire-hunter-6.html)?
