1. Am not feeling all that well. Not sure if it's an infection, an illness, or possibly the result of the new restaurant we tried for Thai Thursday yesterday (Treetop, for those familiar with Waltham; they somehow confused "basil pork, extra hot" with "red curry chicken, with no kick whatsoever;" granted, I can (and did) still eat red curry chicken, but I've now got reason to not trust that place). I've got a relatively critical early afternoon meeting, which is the only reason I'm not heading home now.

2. Spent a nice evening with the family and [livejournal.com profile] lbitw. We grabbed dinner at Not Your Average Joe's and then hung out at the house. [livejournal.com profile] mgrasso and [livejournal.com profile] ultra_lilac joined us later, and there was much laughter.

3. Over in KOL (on my fifth HCO run), I've finally hit level 11. Go me!

4. In case anyone doubted that racist whackjobs exist up north, our own small town has one. Ralphie Filicchia can also be found (via a quick Google search), he can be found defending Patrick Buchanan, bragging that he and his spawn are homophobes, and self-publishing rants against any notion that Christianity could be a religion of love.

5. Which is only to note that Watertown Town Councillor Marilyn Devaney, who makes the news enough to be a West-of-Boston celebrity, is not the only local crank.

6. Explaining Quantum Mechanics to a Dog. 'nuff said. (Ganked from Making Light).

7. Fellow Emory University Academic Team/Spoke alum Trip Payne (who graduated six months before my freshman year) has launched Triple Play Puzzles. The site's already got a ton of good puzzles (including cryptics and other crosswords) as well as some damned good links.

8. If I ever spend $300 on my cats, it'll be on this. Seriously: The reviews for it do make it sound a hell of a lot better than the crappy "self-cleaning" ones I see at the local stores. But $300's a lot to spend, even for a robot.

9. Thanks to work hell and being sick, there haven't been any reviews since Monday. In fact, the review I started on Tuesday is still at about 400 words. Yeah, it's that sort of week. I'm hoping to at least get that review up today (making me seven days behind), and then use a gradual series of weekend reviews to catch up.

10. As noted by Robyn_ma, Tammy Faye Messner has stopped her cancer treatment, and seems not long for this world. Ass-scum "Christians" like the putz I describe at #4 could learn wonders about Christianity from a woman who gives interviews like this one.

Will now go attempt not to throw up or faint until I make it through the meeting.

There was a series on the Sundance Channel about Jay Bakker, Jim and Tammy's son, which also featured Tammy Faye. I was really moved by her as a person. She struck me as very genuine.

Oh, I don't know... If I still had cats (sob!) I'd definately consider that litter box - despite the cost! (My fiance is allergic)

Through no fault of my own, I wound up stuck in a NYC hotel room watching an entire season of the Surreal Life featured Tammy Faye and Ron Jeremy (back to back episodes). I was amazed by just how sweet she is.

If all Christians behaved like her .. well, I still wouldn't be one, but I'd stop using the word "Christian" as a synonym for "small minded homophobe". She's amazing.

Thanks so much for the uncertain principles link! I used to read him, years ago, but lost the link at some point. I just discovered he works where I used to live (in fact, I was probably a half mile from him when I used to read him).

And that Tammy Faye interview made me cry at the end. Yellow raincoats, indeed.

For what it's worth, I still contend that the $300 we spent on the Litter Robot was worth every. single. penny.

Re: number 3, I've just this week started my first HCOs; my main is finally starting an oxy loop with the goal of getting through them all before next St. Sneaky Pete's Day (which may or may not work out depending on how fast my runs actually end up and when NS13 hits), and I also have a multi in the Echelon Theory no-skills oxycore contest. The fact that I feel no compunction to play on any days besides stat days is kind of liberating, actually, considering that I was getting to the point where even in no-path hardcore I'd have as many as 175 turns in a day to play, and more when I ascended. On the other hand, two characters to play banked turns with when stat days come along is a bit of a pain in the ass. Still, if my plans work out, I think I should be able to set a record for no-skills HCO Accordion Thief, whether or not that's good enough to place in the contest. Anyway, I imagine you'll have no trouble finishing off your last HCO before NS13. Nicely done.

Drat. That's what I get for posting the second before I leave for work. Normally, I obsessively check that information. Instead, when you didn't link the journal, I assumed you found it through some sort of Emory secret list.

Makes sense.

I just got tired of being at levels 1-4, and not having my kewl stuff.

Holy crud. That must have taken forever.

You just going for each of the HCO class rewards, and stopping?

Also, is the Haunted Gallery only worthwhile after you get Smooth Movements? Everyone online really likes the rewards, but all I did was get hammered by combat events over and over.

Yeah, Tammy Faye turned out to be one of the good ones. Who'da thunk it? Unlike Jim, she'll be missed.
