Was damned exhausted yesterday (running on under two hours of sleep), so two quick posts were all I had in me (and that was only because I had to stay awake for A) work and B) helping Elayna make a Croatian Biscotti variation for her World Fair project.

The latter, incidentally, involved creaming butter (and can I just say I wish I'd seen that page last night), something I foolishly decided to do by hand instead of with our big mixer (even though, you know, that's the whole fucking point of having a mixer like that). I figured (probably correctly) that I'd be less likely to over-mix that way. But I'd also forgotten just how much that hurts. I don't have nearly enough muscle development in my arm to cream butter by hand. Ow.

As to other stuff:

1. Baseball Reference, already the most indispensable baseball site on the net, now has a complete, searchable draft history. Awesome! I can now track the entire group of Emory draftees! All one of him!

2. [livejournal.com profile] robyn_ma has noted that I've failed to tell folks about the Amazon Graphic Novel Blowout Sale. But the sale's still active, so I haven't failed yet! Lots of good classics here, including a hardcover edition of Amphigorey Again for $7 (and if you don't have that, get it now; it'll never be cheaper), The Complete Cartoons of the New Yorker for $12 (formerly $60!), the hardcover volume one of The Baby-Sitter's Club for $3.40 (with art by [livejournal.com profile] goraina), and discounts on classic collections like Dennis the Menace (from back when he was almost something of an actual menace), Peanuts, and Popeye.

3. Also, the Gold Box Deal of the Day is From the Earth to the Moon (the Signature Edition) for $25.99 (57% off).

4. Over in Kingdom of Loathing, of course both 'song and I picked up the new Item of the Month. I mean, it's a Nac Mac Feegle! With access to tons of new content, including parodies of Moulin Rouge and Sam Coleridge! I'm also currently at level 10, and have failed to get a fucking Heavy D for days now. Mind you, I'm still leveling, but it's annoying to get nothing but Original Gs (with no luck zapping, either).

5. Following a dead link from [livejournal.com profile] dixie's feed over at The Haunted Palace was worth it anyway, since it yielded a haiku error message.

6. Paul WS Anderson on the Spy Hunter Movie! Yes! And I'm serious here; he's the anti-boll.

7. Google Earth now has a National Geographic Layer! Elayna will love this one.

8. I got my new cell phone at work! And it kicks the ass of the previous one (a Motorola whose only special features involved not getting a signal anywhere in Waterown, not accessing voice mail, and running out of power after about two hours of standby time). Alas, since it's a work phone, some of the special features (picture mail, streaming video) that cost money aren't available, but the phone is small, powerful, and now has a picture of my daughter and two of my cats associated with assorted caller IDs.

Looks like Sprint's version of Cingular's (now the new AT&T!!) Sync. I had one for a short time until I switched to the Blackjack, but it's a very nice phone. Slim, yet durable and easy to navigate through the menu. Tons of nice features too, as well as excellent reception and sound quality. I think you'll be happy with it.

Anti-Boll? The dude did AvP and the Res Evil movies. So bad. So very, very bad. Though the DOA movie he produced is pretty harmless fluff. Almost cute for a movie about kung fu death tournaments and boobs...
