The other Jericho

PBS's Mystery has just started showing the later episodes of the other TV show called Jericho (the British series from 2005). I watched the first one ("To Murder and Create") last night, and it was damned fine, with an absolutely riveting performance by Robert Lindsay in the lead. I need to track down the two earlier episodes (the fourth and final one airs next weekend, but this week's episode is being re-shown numerous times in the Boston market, at least). It's a gritty police procedural set during late '50s England, featuring a cop who clearly hates the celebrity status granted to him when he does his job too well. Jericho's a nicely flawed lead character, and there were more than a few nice twists throughout.

As a bonus, this week's episode featured strong guest spots by Claire Bloom and Jane Horrocks.
