So, Ausiello's "scoop" about Kristen Bell going to Lost was bunk.

I'm guessing that Variety's report of Bell joining Heroes, on the other hand, isn't.

Still not good enough news to get me over my mourning for Veronica Mars, but it's a start.

I wonder if the magic of Veronica Mars was Kirsten Bell's, Rob Thomas's or a forever-lost amalgam of both. I'm sure seeing her on Heroes will be a delight, but that show's got plenty of mojo without her.

Lost, on the other hand, I'm very near not caring about that show. I really think they don't have a master plan in which everything makes sense and it's largely just ad-hoc stuff that seems cool at the time.

*sigh* We're still in Season 3 of Veronica Mars over here on Tuesday nights -- for four more episodes until it's over. I still can't believe it was cancelled. :(

Sad as it may be, I'm actually sort of glad that Veronica Mars ended. The biggest problem is that the high-school setting, starting in her junior year no less, cannot be maintained. Especially by an actress who wasn't a teenager to start with, and is becoming obviously less so all the time.

The only series in memory to pull that off was Buffy, and they had Whedon writing the college year(s).

I'm still willing to let Lost prove it has a plot arc, and not just a jumble of ideas. I love how Locke has become an independent faction all on his own.

There's also a rumor floating about that she will be taking over the lead in Legally Blonde on Broadway. And apparently it wasn't so much bunk as the Lost producers approached her, but she turned it down. Supposedly the reason was that she didn't want to relocate to Hawai'i, which boggles my mind (I imagine that's why Lost gets such good guest stars, they offer the incentive of Hawai'i.....).

If you'd seen Bell on Deadwood, you wouldn't have to question the magic that she brought to the table. She was amazing in that, in a role that was 180 degrees from Veronica.

I missed that show, but now that I've seen and enjoyed John from Cincinnati I'm going to go back & watch it.
