I'm rooting for the Vikings to lose every remaining game on their schedule this year.

Yes, that includes the games against the Redskins and the Raiders, two teams I find it hard to ever cheer for.

What a fucking classless organization.

Hey, why the Redskins hate? You got no love for DC?

(Actually I really don't care about my home team. I'll root for the Ravens just as easily, and the Steelers since my mom is from Pittsburgh. Which always made my ex yell at me. He was from Baltimore)

Sounds like from the article, the entire sport might be messed up...or at least other teams.

For as messed up as NASCAR is, with the amount of emphasis they put on family, I can't even begin to see any NASCAR team pull that kind of stunt on a driver that went home and missed practices/races because of a death in the family. Heck, they'd probably turn the race s/he missed into a memorial service for that family member that passed away :P...and yet NASCAR's messed up in so many other ways *shakes head*

But family should come first, and good sportsmanship should promote that.

There are lots of NFL teams I can't see doing that.

I was lucky. I lived in the D.C. region during Redskins's Mark Rypien era; it was a good organization and Rypien was both a good player and a good guy. He did several radio stunts with the DJ team I listened to.

I've tried to root again for the Skins, ever since Gibbs came back, but somehow for me it's not the same.

Hence the "other teams" portion - they mentioned a couple of other teams in the article. I'm glad that it's not all teams.

Yeah, Dan Snyder is teh suck.

I'm kind of filled with rage every time the Style section mentions Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes being guests in Snyder's box. Just so much of what I hate in such a small area... One of these days I'm likely to combust from it.

I wasn't sure I could think much less of the Vikings organization. Guess I was wrong.

that's pretty awful, but i think its a commentary on football in general, as brett favre has been hit with every possible tragedy ever, but he still keeps playing every single game. further, the way my bears are playing every weekend is a new tragedy to be watched by all.

the article also missed the part (unless i cant read correctly) where it said he was organizing all of the travel expenses for his family members, including his siblings in iraq. also, this was the grandmother who raised him as a child, so even more heckuva job vikings team!

We've had a bit of the local loyalty discussion before, I think. Here in NC, before the Panthers came around, you were either a 'Skins fan or a Cowboys fan.

I am a 'skins fan.

It's funny though, how geographically, the Falcons never really entered the picture.

The fact that Mr. Williamson can afford the salary loss is not the point.

"It's a business." O RLY? I can't think of any company (of comparable size) that doesn't provide leave for a death in the immediate family. This is low. Low low low.
