I have Karl Schroeder on my cell phone
Nov. 13th, 2007 08:34 amBooks in my Phone is exactly what it sounds like. Each book is its own self-running and free program that installs on your phone and allows you to read a work that's out of copyright or licensed via Creative Commons. Since Schroeder's Ventus is availably via CC, it was the one I chose to install (you can also find Blindsight, by Peter Watts, as well as works by Cory Doctorow and Lewis Shiner).
Of course, a Samsung M500 is far from the ideal screen for reading a novel, but I like the idea, and if nothing else, this ensures that I've always got Emergency Backup Reading for those times when I forget to bring a book on the bus.
