Max, our oldest and least psychotic cat, is going in for periodontal surgery as I write this. It's technically a "standard procedure" (albeit one that's going to cost us an obscene amount of money), but since it involves anesthesia, there's risk involved. Any good thoughts folks have to spare to send his way, we'd appreciate it.

The poor boy had to be isolated last night (since he wasn't allowed to eat after 6PM, lest he turn into a gremlin). He was so sweet and confused when we went upstairs to bed, cuddling us constantly, knowing that something was wrong, but not knowing what.

I'll update as soon as 'song calls me with news.

When I worked in the vet hospital we had dentals a couple times a week, usually on older dogs and cats. They all came out of the anesthesia just fine. We all made sure to give them much love as they were waking up too. :)

Max will be just fine, sweetie. Take lots of deep breaths today, I know what it's like to have one in the hospital. I was a wreck when Bert was in. Try to keep your mind off of it, he's in good hands.

My Yasha was in the hospital Wednesday for dental and periodontal work. It's always scary when a loved one has to undergo general anesthesia, but I know Yasha and Max will both be feeling better for having the work done.
I was actually able to laugh about it when they told me I'd have to try to brush her teeth from now on, and sold me a tube of poultry-flavored toothpaste.
I wish you and Max all the best.

You know I'm pulling for Max, and sending him Good Thoughts.

But at times like this, reassurance is often helpful too.

I gave my cat a big hug last night, and we both are sending best wishes (altho Haiku has no idea what for).

I'm air-petting. I can't pet Max, but I can pretend to pet a cat right now.

Good thoughts headed your way, all y'all.

P.S. Tonight I'll make a small donation (I'll do it from home). I mention it here so if you don't see it by tomorrow, you and 'Song can be all "Dude, what's up with that?"

*Sends all kinds of good thoughts to Max. Hopefully he will come through this with blazing colors (and be hungry for treats).*
I have a cat of my own that needs to have dental work done. They gave me an estimate of the bill. And I thought my dentist charged and arm and a leg to clean my teeth.
Best of luck to your kitty-baby.

Always remember...the poultry smells better than the liver or fish! :)

Max will come through just fine :) And while it does cost an arm, leg and 1/2 of your first born, it'll be worth it in the end. We do dentals a couple of times a week, and I can say that it's worth the routine cleaning now, rather than the horrors that can happen later!

(err...they did explain that the no food was to lessen the chances of him puking it all back up while he was waking up, right?)
