There is something ironic and annoying about having Fox practice its usual Tivo-busting habits (both starting before 8 and ending after 8:30, a one-two punch that even ABC and NBC can't manage) on an episode of The Simpsons that extols the virtues of the Tivo.

Nothing to do with your post, but you need this book. (http://www.powells.com/biblio/1-9781592288519-0)

Of COURSE it has to do with his post: BACON(!!!) goes with EVERYTHING!

I suck. I shall now strive to de-suck.

I must apologize, I must, [livejournal.com profile] yendi: I steered you wrong with the info (which I really did think was true) that Weezer wasn't around any more. In fact, the band's doing an album. There's plenty of stuff we don't agree on, but we are united in our desire for that band to Just Go Away. (Can we hope radio ignores it?)

To atone for my mis-reporting and to ease your pain, I link you to photos of Paula Marshall on this season of Nip/Tuck. We agree on the awesomeness of Marshall, yes?

I think they got me with this sentence:
"arouse all your senses with an Open-Faced Cheddar & Turkey Bacon Sandwich with Beer-Glazed Onions"

Oh, you mean the episode I'm downloading from the Intarwebs right now? Yeah, that's just awful.

Dear Network Jackasses,

I understand that you need ad revenue. I do. But time shifting you show to make it harder to record will not convince me to watch your ads. You may convince me not to watch your show at all, and that has nothing to do with recording. If I weren't recording TV shows, shifting the start time would be an even worse idea. If I am watching one show live, there is no way in hell I am going to say, "Hey the jackass network might start the next show early, I better switch over, just in case." If you run late, you may trick me into missing the start of some other show I want to see, but that will not make me think happy things about your show, and it certainly won't make me decide to watch your next show instead. I am just as likely to lock your channel out of my TV.

In summary, mister network fuck. Knock it the hell off.

Sincerely,
The Viewing public.

They really ought to change TiVo so that it checks for what time a show ACTUALLY starts and stops, instead of just recording by the half hour or hour. For instance, I have no idea how you'd Tivo something like Nip/Tuck, which regularly goes anywhere from two to 15 minutes over the "regular" hour airtime.

Geez, that DOES suck. I've been thinking of getting a TiVo for a couple years now but things like that make me a little wary. I'm rather glad to know it's not TiVo's fault, though.
