I just slipped and fell down the stairs in front of our house, landing on my well-padded (but not nearly padded enough, for today's purpose) ass, and bouncing down each successive step to the ground. My coccyx hurts a lot. Which if funny to say, at least.

Did I mention that the steps iced over last night?

I decided that staying home was the way to go after that. Ibuprofen can kick in any time now, thank you very much.

Ouch. Yikes. Feel better!

Owie! Hope you didn't break it - that's a miserable thing to heal from. Good luck with your recovery.

It may behoove ye to keep a coffee can full of sand by the front door for mornings like these. We're just starting into winter and it'll probably happen again.

Yeah, I was up late enough last night that I heard the tell-tale sound of ice pellets hitting the skylight.

Ice pellets.

Sure enough, our steps were glazed this morning, and all of the glass on my car may as well have been shower doors.

And a broken coccyx is nothing to laugh about. I know people who have broken theirs while tobogganning, and people who have broken theirs while waiting for the bus (in situations similar to yours).

Hope yours isn't broken. Not even a little bit.

Owww! I am still nursing a separated shoulder from falling down my staircase while carrying my daughter. I sooooo feel your pain, and wish I had just bounced down on my rear, instead of hitting every step on the way down on my back. But, I did the Mommy thing, and threw myself backwards to make sure my daughter didn't get hurt in the process. Hope you feel better very soon.

Sounds like a broken tailbone to me. I broke mine in high school and it only hurt when I moved or sat down.

I know sand has been suggested, but rock salt is better, imho. It actually melts the ice. (It's also protective and cleansing if you're into that kind of thing.)

At least I didn't bounce down the successive steps yesterday when I did about the same thing...
