Ow.

Standing is okay. Lying down is okay. Kneeling, sitting, crouching, bending to get fake eggs out of the fridge, walking up stairs (down is fine), and (as I just found out) sneezing all hurt.

Staying home today, although I've already sent seven work emails, which makes this an insanely productive morning.

Wanting to express sympathy both yesterday and today leaves me in the same position of... every time I start leaving a comment saying how terribly sorry I am about what happened to your ass, I either giggle or start thinking baaaad thoughts...

...I hate to say it, but in my misspent youth it took me weeks to recover from similar circumstances. I never had it officially diagnosed as broken, mostly because I was pretty sure there was nothing they could do for it - they can't really put a cast on your butt - but I recall it hurting in exactly the situations you're describing.

This might be too personal, but - does it hurt when you sit on the toilet? If it doesn't, you might want to come up with some similar ring-shaped arrangement for when you have to go back to work.

Having once fallen on my own coccyx (because I'd have a devil of a time falling on yours -- or anyone else's, really), I sympathize. And I won't mention that it took at least two weeks for mine to feel better.

Got to be more entertaining than a State of the Union report ;)
Sorry, this is one of those things where you feel
equal parts sympathy and giggles.
The sheer number of jokes that come to mind is mind boggling
but in the end i hope you recover as pain free as possible :)

Off topic alert! Hey, are you guys planning to go to Boskone?

And I hope your ass feels better soon.

Cool! I'm not for sure that we're going, but a friend is coming over from the UK so now I'm considering it. And I loved Bruce Coville's Magic Shop books when I was in middle school, so there's that. As I said in another thread, Jeremy Thatcher FTW!

I'd suggest a Boppy - it's a U-shaped pillow used by nursing mothers - but it might be a little thick.

Ah the new Fox show, The State of Adam's Ass.

I'm glad the Herman's Head people are finally getting that spin off.

After a similar injury in our household, we picked up a ring-shaped pillow at our usual pharmacy (Skenderian Apothecary, near Harvard Square). It worked quite well.

yikes!

If part of it is muscular, try some Blue Goo on it - works amazingly well for my lower back in conjunction with swelling reducers like ibuprofen.
