Charlie Daniels is not pleased with the game.

Not that Daniels has had much intelligent to say for years, mind you.

Well, that's just great. I love that song, and now that love will be forever poisoned by the knowledge that it was created by a complete and utter retard.

Never mind that the song's also played by sadistic deejays in topless bars to punish the dancers when they get smartassed.

I would be more apt to believe that Global Warming were backed up by real science and not spewed by politicos who wouldn't know global warming from green apples. As it is, I'm convienced there is no such thing (at least man made)

The claim that the melting of the ice caps will cause sea levels to rise which intern will flood large parts of the land mass; if this were true, then that would mean man has more power than God because God said he'd never flood the earth again.

That's a comment by someone on a rant he made about how global warming is bullshit.

Nice to know his readers aren't much more intelligent.

(FWIW, that song is my 13 year old's favorite song to play on Rock Band.)

I think of Charlie Daniels as sort of like Orson Scott Card. The man may be a nutjob, but at least some of his output is fun. "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is still one of my favorite songs.

Y'know, I have to admit -- every time I play that song on Guitar Hero, I feel the fiery fingers of Satan pulling me down, down toward his infernal kingdom.

Of course, I feel the same thing every time I play Talk Dirty To Me, so take that for what it's worth.

This is also the guy who posted on his blog after 9/11 that god let the attacks happen because of all the abortionists, gays, liberals, and feminists in America.

I just hate it when songs I like turn out to be created by cretins.

I can never hear that song without getting this version in my head.

I love that show, too :-)

And you're very welcome for the card!

The stupid, it burns.

How dare those game designers use a devil in a song about someone playing guitar against the devil...? Oh, wait a minute...
I guess Daniels' version was "light-hearted," what with soul-stealing and all.

My parents' band opened for Charlie Daniels once upon a time, and he made plenty of comments about hunting down local criminals and "stringing 'em up." He's a peach.

I was soooo into jesus, but then, I saw this animated satan on my TV screen, and he beat me at guitar hero, so now I reject christ. I have seen the wisdom of communism, and I am considering becoming a lesbian, homosexual, leatherfreak, furry, or transvestitarian. I need to see if there is any information on the internets about which might be a better choice for me, in light of the whole guitar hero satan revelations.

And how do you account for the time God made the sun stand still so the armies of Israel could have light to destroy their enemies, something that has been acknowledged by the scientific community.

My brain pretty much seized up right at that point. I've taken a whole lot of science classes, and I don't remember this bit at all. Did I miss this part? Was I playing hooky that day?

I think he was different then. 'Cause I seriously don't think present-day-Charlie would look to kindly on Uneasy Rider (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/daniels-charlie/uneasy-rider-10929.html), which is too bad, 'cause it's a damn funny song.

The song, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia," which I wrote, is supposed to be a lighthearted novelty about a fiddling contest between a country boy and the devil and the devil always loses.

It's be a damn shame if someone say...did a sequel to the song where the result was inconclusive and they imply Johnny is guilty of pride, one of the seven deadly sins, throughout it.

Like hmm I dunno...

/could it be Satan?

I thought the whole point was that the kid was so good, he beat The Devil. If The Devil *always* loses, why would there be a song about someone beating him.

I mean, it's like any other narrative. What's the point of the conflict if there's no threat of losing said conflict.
