These stories aren't similar at all:

The usual suspects (Kerr, Reynolds, Tigerhawk*) on the right-wing putz-o-sphere are taking note of the fact that an Obama supporter has a Che Guevara poster as if that has any meaning for the Obama campaign.

Meanwhile, a McCain fundraiser has been cancelled because the organizer is from the particular breed of asshat who thinks that rape is funny.

Of course, they're not really comparable. The Obama supporter isn't a major Obama fundraiser, nor did he make fucking national headlines and embarrass his party years ago with the same comments.

*Not to be confused with Cheetor, Rhinox, or Megatron.

"So, you have to love the photograph of the liberal Ohio judge who declared the death penalty as administered in that state unconstitutional. Is he a Communist who happens to support Barack Obama in the absence of actual Communists, or an Obama liberal who sees nothing wrong in promoting a Communist murderer? It is difficult to know which."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So this idiot can't see the obvious fact that there could be *more* than
his two interpretations, probably more like twenty?
(none of which really has any relevance to the Obama campaign as you noted)
Basic logic and common sense must be alien concepts to him...
I was amused to see the headline "McCain:Treat our Wives with Respect. (http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/13/mccain.interview/index.html?eref=rss_politics&iref=polticker)" only a day after reading about a comment he made to his wife (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/05/johnmccain.uselections20081), as well as his notorious joke about Chelsea Clinton.
Why do I see the crazy Texas oil man from the Simpsons when I read that story?
Maybe there was a helpful caption on the original page where they got the picture from saying, "Obama supporter at work in his office besides his favourite posters which he put up with his own two hands even though the building super told him he shouldn't put holes in the walls, because he feels entitled to enshrine these two men in all the glory he can muster."
But chances are more than likely there wasn't such a caption and so we are indeed left without context. Even if it was his own office and he did find the image of Guevara captivating, how can one know how and why?
And in the end, even if he was mistaken, why would it matter? I had pictures of Gandhi and Malcolm X and Lawrence of Arabia when I was younger, and while the full history of each man contains some problematic flaws, they still stand as symbols for various movements or efforts to secure change.
