Why does my Tivo hate Fringe?
Sep. 15th, 2008 10:58 amI know the show's supposed to be all about mysterious stuff, but this just strikes me as weird:
I'd set the Tivo to record the re-airing of the pilot last night. Looked up at 8:30 to see that the red recording light was on, and saw that Fringe was, indeed, on TV.
Checked the "Now Playing" section, and it wasn't showing up there (even though Tivo should show a currently-recording show there).
Checked the "To-Do list," and it was showing up properly there. Said it was recording, gave me the "watch now" option, etc.
Checked this morning, and it still wasn't there. And when I checked the "history" in the To-Do List (which will always show why a show wasn't recorded), it wasn't there.
What the fuck?
Guess I can cross Fringe of my list of shows to watch this fall. Wish I'd had the chance to make that choice myself, though.
Tivo had better stop fucking around, though.
(And no, I do NOT like watching shows on the computer. Sorry.)

Bad science, messy incompetent police/agency procedural,
screwy logic or lack thereof..
It makes Lost look the very model of coherency.

Date: 2008-09-15 11:12 pm (UTC)I'm the same way.
One of the best purchases I ever made was getting a Philips 5960 DiVX-enhanced DVD player, when I had to replace my old Sony. Not only does it support most video formats directly from my computer, but it has a USB port, so I don't even have to burn files to DVD to watch them (plus it can also be converted to region-free using only the remote).
Now whenever I'm unable to TiVo a show (for whatever reason), I can just download the episode, copy it to a USB flash drive, and watch it on my television. It's very cool.
In fact, I just got a usb/ethernet IDE enclosure, so I can connect an external drive to the DVD player and copy files to it across the network. I haven't hooked it up yet, but I know other people who are using the same enclosure with this DVD player.
For now though, I'm using a 2g USB flash drive, and it works great.
