Weird use of Twitter
Oct. 7th, 2008 08:43 amSo, a few days ago, I twitted an annoyed letter to Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry about his lack of knowledge regarding pot roasts.
Seconds later, I saw a reply pop up quoting it verbatim.
Turns out there's a Twitter account called DearRobot whose sole function is work as a bot, collecting and republishing any Tweet that begins with "Dear."
There's no advertising associated with this (not even a link to a homepage). I have no idea what the purpose of it is; I'm assuming it might just be a school project ("write a bot that interacts with a social media app" or somesuch). Still, it's a little weird.
