"Cordelia, your mouth is open. Sound is coming from it. That's never good." -- Buffy, Season 2

"Jayne, your mouth is moving. You might want to see to that." -- Firefly, Season 1 (and only)

And the more-than-once use of "man-parts" (Xander on Buffy (not Xander on Buffy THAT way, you sickos!) and Jayne on Firefly).

Or his phrase "A hole in the world" appearing in both the dialogue of Speed and the title of that Angel episode.

At least it's said differently.

PINKY: Brain, did you know that when your mouth moves, strange sounds come out of it?

Writers are some of the most re-cycling fools on the face of the earth--didn't anyone tell you? Look at Stephen King. Dean Koontz.

Given long enough, and words enough--writers re-speak themselves. Same with musicians, artists. It's all the same voice, and eventually it'll re-speak.

Once I sorted that out, I became okay with derivative things.

During Joss's run on X-Men, Kitty Pryde said several lines I recognized as Buffy's.

And there's reused dialogue in Dr. Horrible as well.

When a well issues forth such sweet water, does it not make sense to return?

Let's be fair. Exactly how many sarcastic ways are there to tell somebody not only to shut up, but to do so while implying that the person in question *never* says anything useful? ^_^

I like the way it's done in Firefly a little better, tbh.
