Heading home for the day, and haven't managed any posts of substance (again). That's what happens when work beckons, I guess.

In the meantime, here's a poll to keep you me entertained:

I'm going with "Other" because I lost track of the issues when I moved back to Alaska and got stuck with stupid chain store comic stores to purchase comics from and hating to give them my business. So right now I am needing to pick up from where I left off and catch back up.

But from what I *had* read before I let things slide, I loved.

There are parts of season 8 that I like -- like making Dawn a giant, which is something that actually takes advantage of the medium, since that could never work on screen, but is perfect for comics -- but not very many. Bringing back Adam is the laziest of lazy writing, and the hand-waving dismissal of the Buffy references in Angel season 5 was even lazier.

Honestly? I enjoyed Nancy Holder's Queen of the Slayers a great deal more than I've enjoyed the season 8 comics.

Me, I'd rather they'd taken a different tack...I mean, there's all those awoken potential Slayers out there. Now imagine a world where, say, one in every 100 girl is super-strong, has wicked fast reflexes and is damn near impossible to kill...

Yeah, you'd expect some social changes, fast.

If you'd like an indie comic store to order from that will ship to you that is run by an absolutely fabulous lady of my acquaintance, please contact me at zarhooie@gmail.com. :)

I don't think you have an options for Half Amazing/Half lacking.

Georges Jeanty rocks... the early issues, the mystery of this Twilight character, the pure scope... all amazing.

The best issues so far actually were the Brian K. Vaughn arc with Giles and Faith.

The worst was the FRAY crossover. Karl Moline's art was wonderful (although slightly a stepback from the work he seemed to start doing on LONERS from Marvel)... but I had no clue what the hell was going on.

Now we're going into what seems to be a "I am working on DOLLHOUSE, so I dumped the work on my old employees who really don't have time either, so the work will be meh compared to early issues" era... also... It's still SEASON 8?

How many episodes do we have so far?

I kinda want to figure that out. How many physical episodes we would have if this was a TV show. 8 maybe?

I liked the art. (I need a "damning with faint praise" icon)

Well, ordinarily there's "one born unto every generation", right? So factor in a rather high 'attrition' rate and the fact that for every slayer there's at least dozen back-ups, and the typical Slayers life-span from activation to demise is 3 years [that's canon as far as I know]... it works out as roughly 1% of the female population carries the Slayer gene.

of course, now they've all activated, then the attrition rate is going to go down rather...they'd be able to operate in units, organise, network and share information and so on... in short, form an underground army.

I was pretty much with it until the last issue. I mean, I like Harmony, but WTF?!

I think "Angel: After the Fall" is much better actually.

Good. With the exception of the arc with Dracula. That arc was pure awesome...

The head Twilight dude is still unrevealed. It could be Adam. Some of the hints about him seem to indicate there is a connection to Buffy. I thought Riley at first, but they showed him talking to Twilight Boss at the end of one arc...

I have actually read some of the issues, but not enough to make a judgment on general quality yet, so I picked the "haven't read any yet" option.

IT'S AMAZING!!!!!

The size of the cast! The fabulous castles -- filmed on location!!! The AMAZING special effects! Manga-Dawn! The girl-on-girl-with-lots-of-witnesses action!

My point is, it was AMAZING watching the medium going from TV -- with famously original and quotable dialog -- going to the graphic medium, where you can have a cast of thousands and put them in every castle on the planet. Also -- I SUSPECT -- you can get away with a lot more pg-13 stuff -- i.e. all the cartoon skin.

(The size of the cast! The amazing special effects! The dragon -- even if Conner thinks it's weird that Angel rides on his back! The dragon/dinosaur fight! The beautiful set of Lorne the non-lord's realm!!)
