So, as some of you may know, Evolution is one of my favorite underrated movies of 2001. Just a damned fun movie, released at the worst time possible by the studio (if it had been released in October, it would have been a huge hit).

Well, when [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] kellinator went shopping last week, they saw Evolution action figures in KB Toys, and it looked like something based on cartoon. I went online, and I can only find the figures at amazon (not at KB), but with no other information. And google searches for something like "evolution and cartoon" are tough, because of the X-Men cartoon and the sheer volume of rot put out from the anti-evolutionary "humorists" out there.

But I figure someone here will know: is there an Evolution tv show, or was the show axed before hitting the air (as with the Atlantis show), and the figures just dumped on the market?

Marvel news

The good news, straight from Newsarama:

And speaking of collected editions, editor Tom Brevoort said Marvel is working on reissuing all 27 original Marvel Masterworks volumes, which they want to publish before they start publishing brand new editions.

This means I can get that third Avengers volume at an affordable price (well, semi-affordable)! Woohoo!

The bad news is, there are no plans to remove Grant Morrison and his mental self-masturbatory self from the X-Men.

Ah well. Win some, lose some.

Did anyone else see last week's South Park (the one that managed to peg the Catholic Church scandal, with a nice detour for Martha Stewart)?

I'm just amazed at how current they manage to keep the show.

And at what they can get away with.

Warning (if you've got it on tape): Do not watch it while eating.

Seriously, if he were here, he would be. Because it's fucking cold in this office! And, as [livejournal.com profile] shadesong will attest, it takes a lot for me to say it's cold.

From his latest column:

DAREDEVIL/BULLSEYE FROM FABRY AND SMITH?

I understand that the new top secret Glenn Fabry project for Marvel mentioned in a previous column is also the new top secret Kevin Smith project for Marvel.

Daredevil/Bullseye. One to anticipate.

Please let this be true!

Has Fabry done anything other than covers and pinups since Slaine?

For those at the On The Bricks show, here's John's take from the official TMBG newsletter:

The weather cleared by Atlanta, but we ran into a different kind of
problem: feuding promoters. A local competing promoter (who will go nameless,
but is aligned with probably the only national promotions chain you might know
) was being a big spoiler- "cross-booking" free shows in the public space a
few directly across from the festival site all season in an overt effort to
rub out our less corporate production co. that presents the "On The Bricks"
summer festival each year. We found ourselves a few thousand feet from
another stage, playing at the exact same time as Popa Roach. This absurd
scenario was not an accident in long-term planning, but a planned conflict
created eight days before our event by a very evil dude. Fortunately Popa
Roach weren't as loud as we feared, and unfortunately for them, we weren't as
quiet as they assumed. I got word of a frightening but slightly comic story-
evidently their lead singer wound up yarfing on himself midsong, which sent a
silent shockwave through what had to be a deeply disturbed crowd. Possibly
because of this incident, their show ended a little early, which allowed us
to play a few quiet songs without the intrusive echoes of our unintended
competition.

So, about a week ago, I sold an Apple "Shop Different" shirt on eBay for $8.50 (started at $2.99, and had five bids).

As soon as that auction ended, I put my other "Shop Different" shirt up for auction. Same exact descirption and photo, same starting bid.

It solsd today for $21.50.

Weird.

Both shirts were free swag, too.

In other eBay news, of the remaining adult shirts, the Ranma and Sailor moon ones sold at their minimum ($8.99 and $6.99, repectively) at the last minute. The Sandman and Dragoncon shirts remain unsold. I may wait a week or two and then relist.

Of the remaining kid stuff, six out of the nineteen items that we had to relist currently have bids, with less than a day left. So it was definitely worth the hassle of relisting, but I wish we'd gotten more bids, anyway.

And in other news, eBay bought Paypal today. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

*sigh*

Anyone need seven baby gerbils?

No, turns out our gerbils aren't gay.

From the '80s Nuts Newsletter:

Toto have finished work on a Christmas album titled SANTAmental. The
album is expected out by September/October and features special guest
players including: Steve Vai, Slash, Edgar Winter and Eddie Van
Halen.

I'm speechless.
