A few things:

First, although Elayna dawdled this morning, she did manage to read all the way through chapter 17 of her book (one shy of finishing it)! Woohoo!

Second, I'll be at Educause most of this day, so I'll be offline until early evening, most likely. Try to survive without me, hard as it may be.

Third, when we got home yesterday, there were beautful and nifty cards waiting for [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and me, courtesy of the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] karlita. Yay, and thanks! And the cards had stickers, which made Elayna happy, too. :-)

Fourth, we had Buffy night again last night. All three shows were good, although I'll admit Buffy was only really good because it had some nifty Anya moments. Gilmore was the best of the three shows, by far. Although I'm not sure we can continue to do the massively late Tuesdays. In fact, I'm pretty sure we can't -- I just can't take staying up until 1 on a worknight. I think next week will just be Buffy/Smallville, just to give everyone a head's up.

And I guess I should say who the everyone is -- it was [livejournal.com profile] mightwombat, [livejournal.com profile] gladstone, and [livejournal.com profile] glenn5 last night.

And fifth, Elayna finally got to see stars on the way to the schoolbus, as the early hour and the later dawn have combined for total darkness (and I guess it was a decent day, cloud and pollution-wise). I showed her Orion, and we had fun attempting to find other constellations (no luck, as it was getting too bright). She was a happy girl, though. :-)

Umm. I think that's it. I've gotta go -- I know I owe a bunch of you comments, and I'll try to write some of them tonight.

So, today was pretty good, one headache aside.

Got to Educause, registered, and realized that there wasn't jack shit on the program that was interesting today (lots of stuff tomorrow). So I hit the Hall o' Swag (aka the Exhibitor's Hall), where I ended up with a ton of stuff, including the usual mousepads and pens (some damned nice ones), some mugs, t-shirts, a tote bag, a backpack (which came as a part of registration), some clocks, two different types of carabiner watches (a watch on a carbiner that clips to a bag), one of which has an Indiglo light and a compass, a basketball(!), and lots more. Elayna ended up with a lot of it, of course. :-)

Had lunch, then came down with a killer headache. Decided that it was my cue to go home, so I did. I knew that Shadesong was home getting stuff done, and also found that [livejournal.com profile] mightwombat was there, as well. By the time I was home, my headache was a whopper, so I got them to turn the music down, and I popped some excedrin and crashed for an hour or so. We then went through the swag, and they headed out for a late lunch which ran nearly to dinner time, as the restaurant they tried to go to (Melting Pot) was closed, and the ended up at Maggianos, which was good, as it led to leftover mushroom ravioli for me (so much for the rest of the day's Points) for dinner. :-) Appropriately enough, over dinner I read the Time article on headaches.

Elayna got her homework done, and is now watching Monsters Inc and eating dessert. The outtakes on the DVD are hysterical, and the discs are just loaded (there's a four-page site map of disc two included in the package).

Shadesong and RloveKing are off for a girls' night out, and once I put miss kid to bed, it's a writing night for me!
