(mmm, sundry tomatoes)

So, back at work, I find out that the briefing that I have to go to is at 9, and lasting until 11. Sucks. I may find myself too busy for the ITD staff meeting at 2 as a result. I just don't have the time to blow four hours in meetings.

Forgot to post on the ITD party from last Friday. It was amazing. Remember the salmon (see http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=yendi&itemid=236250#cutid1 for the menu)? It was better than advertised. Literally the best salmon I've ever had. Maybe the best seafood I've ever had. And the potatoes were yummy too.

I'm currently reading the early issues of Excalibur at home. It's hard to believe looking at his runs titles like FF and Gen13, but at one time, Chris Claremont was a damned talented writer. And I love some of the in jokes (including a Wild Cards ref and an appearance by Cats Laughing, providing comic appearances by Steve Brust and Emma Bull long before Neil did it).

Lessee. Other things to post before heading off to the briefing. We got DVDs this weekend -- the SPidey special edition, and the first season of the Greatest TV Show of All Time (aka Babylon 5).

Speaking of B5 (or, more accurately, JMS), the latest Westfield catalog shows that he's still willing to give his talentless hack protege (Fiona Avery) work, as she's writing a Bright miniseries (spinning off of Rising Stars). Between JMS's promotion of Avery, and Ellis and Morrison's promotion of Millar, the comics world is becoming a very suck-ass place.

Oh, and the Birds of Prey that's airing this week (aka, being dumped to fill up space) has Mitch Pileggi as a guest star. Nifty!

And Fox Home entertainment (the not-as-satanic division of the network) has announced DVD sets of Family Guy and Futurama, both with audio commentary, even! Woohoo! And the Futurama set is due out on April 6, making it a perfect birthday present for me!

Happy belated birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] tarpo and [livejournal.com profile] gardengnome, and happy current birthday to fellow Mets fan (and manager of the awesome Tim Powers list) [livejournal.com profile] estimatdprophet

And shit! I'm late.

All of you really need to find a copy of Robert Devereaux's Santa Steps Out and read it. You will never look at Santa (or some other beloved holiday characters) in the same way again.
