So, I've been trying to finish my hella late Bookslut column (yay for forgiving editors!). And I foolishly decided to write about Stephen King. My argument is essentially, "Yeah, he sucks ass now, but he didn't twenty years ago, and horror would be worse off without him." Which is something easy enough to write in a paragraph, or a book, but not in a fucking column. Anyway, attempting to get this written (and also to get "work" done) will be why I'm not on LJ much today.

From Comicon's year-end roundup (where any number of comics pros are asked to sum up the past year and anticipate the next):

Mark Waid: What are you most looking forward to in 2004? Buying my Big Macs from Bill Jemas..

The New York Times three film critics sit around and bitch about the worst movies of the year. (Registration required, etc).

Some great quotes. My favorite, from Elvis Mitchell (long my favorite critic, period), on seeing My Boss's Daughter:

There was me and two guys, one of whom had just gotten really stoned — and even he wasn't laughing during this movie.

It's also fun just to see them disagree, since there have been a number of times when I've wondered whether a certain film would have gotten a better review from Scott or Mitchell.
