Belated Birthday Gifts!
May. 4th, 2004 09:05 amTwo wonderful gifts arrived yesterday:
From
dlscanlon, I got a copy of Thank You for Not Reading: Essays on Literary Trivia, something I've craved for quite some time!
And from
envoy, I got a signed manuscript (actually, the publisher's proofs) of Stephen Brust's The Book of Jhereg! Kick-ass!
Thank you both!
In other gifting news, Amazon sent
shadesong's Mother's Day gift via UPS, which allows me to see that it has traveled from Kansas to Tulsa to Texas, in a straight line towards GA, assuming the line wraps around the world. Sending UPS also nicely ensures that if it's close on Friday, it won't arrive until Monday (unlike the USPS). But hey, at least I'll know where it is (my money's on Chile).
Today's Ozy and Millie nicely sums up my parenting philosophy. Mmmm. waffles.
Over at iTunes, it looks like they're rotating videos in and out. No idea what was lost, but they've added over ten new ones, and the total count is still under eighty, so something's gone. New videos from Jet (who clearly remember The Blasters, not a bad thing), New Found Glory, Dido, and a bunch of others. The free song today is a piece from an opera, so I'll take a pass. They do have the new Bad Religion single ("Los Angeles is Burning") available in prerelease, although I'll wait for the entire album ("The Empire Strikes First") to be available.
Last night, we had a massive crowd for Boondock Saints, as
wispfox and
thevault had never seen it (and no way was
photognome missing it, of course). Joe, you left your phone at our place, btw. We should have it in [Bad username or site: Karlita' @ livejournal.com]s hands within a few hours.
wispfox is off to the airport in a bit, which sucks, as she's a fun houseguest. Feh.
Today, work, sucky work, meetings, more work. Followed by taking Miss Kid to Karate, then more Fruits Baskets with
thevault and
copycatjsh. Probably catch Gilmore tomorrow (along with Angel, of course).
DVDFIle has more info on the Mulan Special Edition. Lots of documentaries, special features, commentaries, new songs, and videos, including Donnie Osmond's "I'll Make a Man Out of You," with Jackie Chan in the video.
That same link also reveals that Punky Brewster is coming to DVD. Punky Fucking Brewster is on DVD, but do we have the animated Tick or Animaniacs or Freakazoid? What the fuck is wrong with this world?
