Had a nice lazy weekend. Friday, stayed home while the new furnace got installed. The lying fuckheads at Estes (Atlanta folks -- avoid these folks like the plague, as they lie through their teeth) finally got the thing installed, but it turns out that it leaks water. Not enough to make us turn off the furnace (it got way too cold to consider that), but enough to hear a disconcerting splash downstairs every twenty minutes or so when it's running. The floor isn't flooding, but it's annoying. I'm sure they'll have it fixed within two months or so. Fuckers.

Saturday was Elayna's Girl Scouts day, and also the day I watched the Director's Cut of the new Dawn of the Dead. Still a damned fine film. Oh, and Babylon 5 fans need to see it - the special features include what I believe is the final performance of Richard Biggs (and yeah, I choked up a bit at his final lines), as well as a vocal cameo by Bruce Boxleitner.

Also watched tons of Tivo. Caught up on Jack and Bobby (such a good show, so doomed to an early death), as well as the Frontline special The Persuaders, which everyone, and I mean everyone, should see. One of the best examinations of advertising I've seen in ages, covering all angles and aspects of it.

Sunday, I saw [livejournal.com profile] hamlet423 for the first time in literally years. Dave's the LJer I've known the longest (since 1990), and, along with [livejournal.com profile] thermidor, is one of only two LJers I've known since college. It was good to see him again and catch up on various old acquaintances and friends.

Later, [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe and Gerry came by, and we chatted and worked on trash questions while eating Chinese food, followed by watching The Simpsons and (once [livejournal.com profile] shadesong was home) Arrested Development, which is as good this year as it was last year (the Tom Jane guest role was a nice touch for those five of us who remember that he and Bateman were brothers in The Sweetest Thing) .

Overall, a good, relaxing weekend. Which will shortly by followed by a business trip back out to Phoenix. So I'll be a little more harried this week.
