Amazon: Resolved. After another BS email, I finally got in touch with someone who could do something. Didn't resolve it as well as I'd like, but it's mostly taken care of.

Scrubs: Not a clip show, in spite of the episode description.

Bookslut: I'm calmer. Still not sure what I'm going to do, but a number of you have given me much to think about. I'll re-work the opening of the column and turn it in today or tomorrow once I get it copyedited, since there's really no point in rushing if it's not going to see "print" until January. Not sure where I'll go from there -- I'm still thinking on that one. I enjoy being published, but I also enjoy getting some thanks and respect (especially in a non-paying gig).

Hanukkah: Gave [livejournal.com profile] shadesong a copy of All I Wanna Do (aka the Movie Formerly Known as Strike), which we watched last night. It was cute enough, although a bit more earnest than either of us had expected. Shadesong gave me Near Dark, which we'll probably watch tonight. For those who haven't seen it, it's one of the best damned vampire movies ever made. Love that film. We gave Elayna the Smithsonian Crime Lab kit. :-)

Anyway, linkage:

My presence (or lack thereof) doesn't change the fact that Bookslut has some damned fine columnists, including [livejournal.com profile] lizlet and [livejournal.com profile] hangingfire. Liz's column is on It's a Wonderful Life, while Karin combines a honeymoon report with an update on the state of Manga over in Japan.

One reason I love eating so much -- my lack of sleep.

For my fellow grammar whores.

Remember the environment? You know, the issue that didn't make any of the debates? Remember how everyone got all offended whenever it was suggested that being nervous about Bush's religious views was Christian-bashing (as if he'd know a Christian or anything ever uttered in the Beatitudes if they hit him on the ass)? Plenty of us do. (link ganked from the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi, whose return to LJ is at least one thing to be thankful for today). Corgi's question, "How can you stop a cult on jihad if it won't be recognised as one and they have the advantage of momentum and positioning?" is a damned good one.

*Gasp* The Mets failed to offer arbitration to Mo Vaughn! Whatever shall we do?

Earlier this week, Lindsay Lohan swore she'd only perform songs on TV that she wouldn't have to lip sync. Oops.

Finally, I don't have a link (it's from a listserv), but if anyone lives near Warren, NJ, and wants to attend an amazing concert on February 5, Trish Murphy, one of my all-time favorite singers, is doing a house show up there. Contact me, and I'll forward the email with the info.

3 Margaret Cho DVDs for $9!

EDIT: Also, Dinner for Five, Season 1, a two-disc set, is going for $8.99. Hitting free shipping on this order will be a no-brainer. :-)
I'm pretty sure it's a misprint. But if it's not. . .
