I don't tend to do the 50 book challenge (because I've never had a year with fewer than 50 books, and I also suck at logging things), but I've read four most recent Lemony Snicket books in a span of about 29 hours. That would put me on a hell of a pace. :-) For those looking for a good annotations site, this one is one of the best I've found. Now if my daughter only remembers to bring home her copy of Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography from school, I'll finish all the in-print stuff.

(Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] thefirethorn and anyone else who's really into these books? Get to your local 50% off calendar kiosk in the mall and get the SOUE calendar. There are clues and jokes scattered everywhere.

Yeah, when I get obsessed with a series, I get obsessed.

Elsewhere, the latest Dork Tower is a blast for those of us who are also Good Eats fans.

Yes, LJ was bought. Stop with the angst. Brad answered the questions, and answered them well. If he turns out to have been dishonest or naive, we'll know. But in the meantime, I'll use LJ

Oh, and Bill Gates thinks that folks who are offended at the state of IP law are filthy commies. Yeah, because the Sonny Bono "I'm an asshole as well as a bad singer" Copyright Act really removed incentive for folks who are fucking dead, asshole! Maybe if you spent less time trying to squelch creativity in the name of increasing it, and more fixing your products before showing them off, you'd actually start contributing something to this world again.

Over in baseball, there's a brouhaha over the Angels changing their city name. On the one hand, I see where the city is coming from, but on the other, does anyone really say, "Hey, the Angels play in Anaheim. Let's go there for our vacation, honey!"?

That's what I get for not checking my stats more -- I missed my 2500th post! Well, I actually made my 2500th post, but didn't realize it at the time.

Good/bad news. Westfield, our comics company, switched the FedEx and now sends tracking numbers. This means that instead of having the comics simply surprise me at the door, I now have can hit "reload" and see that they arrived in Chicago at 4:30 today and left at 7:30.

Oh, and finally, one of my favorite trilogies from when I was a wee lad is being adapted by Gregor Johnson. As with all such adaptations, I'm nervous but optimistic.

The Complete Calvin and Hobbes! Yeah, it's nearly $100 (actually, it retails for $150, but I'm assuming that there'll be discounts like this for a while). It's still worth it. I know where a part of next September's paycheck is going. :-)
