Last day before classes begin. In other words, things are extra frantic.

And my pod played that Arlo Guthrie song on the walk to the office this morning. And yeah, I know it's about a train, not the city the train's named after. But still, it's sure as hell been on my mind.

btw, The McCormick Tribune Foundation is matching $.50 on the dollar for donations to hurricane relief.

Otherwise, not much else to report. Tired. Watched two more House reruns last night (including the one we'd already seen with the med school lecture, still my favorite episode to date), caught another Cowboy Bebop this morning, and we'll finally see the Tivoed pilots of Prison Break and Rome tonight.

So, if there's a DC Universe version of the band Marcy Playground, do they sing I Smell Etta Candy?

And if Marcy Playground had existed shortly before the French Revolution, would they have sung I Smell Sex and Candide?

I was downstairs, chatting with [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, when she asked if I could get rid of the cobweb that was near my head.

I pointed by hands at it, shouted "poof," and nothing happened.

"See, this is proof that magic doesn't exist!"

As I walked away to throw out the cobweb that I'd now removed by hand, I started singing "It's a Kind of Magic."

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong then said, "I still love you, in spite of this. Now that's a kind of magic."

To which I replied, "no, it's just sufficiently advanced technology."

To be fair

I've taken Sonny Purdue to task plenty of times, although he still remains one of the more tolerable Georgia Republicans (a little like calling Italy the "Happy Fun Part of the Axis" during WWII, admittedly).

But his statements here regarding the gas prices in GA? Dead-on.
