*sigh*

Went shopping last night, and bought a big bag of cough drops.

Naturally, I left them at home.

Not a ton of new stuff today (although see yesterday's post and the one from the day before for more. Still, there are a handful of deals:

The Bon Appetit Cookbook is $23.07 (34% off), a decent enough deal, but it also comes with a one-year subscription to the magazine, which makes it a better deal.

Paul Johnson's excellent A HIstory of Christianity has been reduced to $10 (50% off). The reviews criticizing Johnson for actually taking a scholarly approach are quite amusing.

Over in the kitchen area, the Orca 11-inch Silicone Oven Mitt has been reduced to $9.99 (60% off). As many of you know, I swear by silicone oven mitts. Note that only the blue mitt has been reduced in price, for some reason.

Amazon's also running a special on Jansport backpacks, with a ton of them reduced by 40% or more

In videogames, Amazon's cut the price of Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal by $5, to $14.99, and Wild Arms 3 has been reduced to $12.99 ($6 off the list price, but realistically, $2 less than you'll find it for in most places).

Finally, they've cut the price of the Factory-reconditioned Roomba 4299 (aka, the best cat-toy ever) to $154.99. Since there's a $25 off coupon code (NOSAVER) listed on that same page, that comes out to $129.99. Still too rich for me to justify, alas.

Kindly shut the fuck up.

The MVP is an award for regular-season performance. The Howard put up better numbers and led his team to a better record. The fact that the Phillies played in a division with two decent teams is the reason they went home early and your team became this decade's answer to the '87 Twins (only without the class).

I'd wish for you to encounter Andre Dawson's fan club in a dark alley, but instead how about Joe Torre, who won the MVP while failing to take The Cardinals to the playoffs?

It's been a long time since I rock and rolled posted a Kingdom of Loathing update. That's not because I haven't been playing.

I've been continuing my hardcore runs, and am currently on my fifth one, as a Disco Bandit. The runs so far:

Seal Clubber: 20 days
Turtle Tamer: 17 days
Pastamancer: 29 days
Sauceror: 31 days

Turtle Tamer was easiest, of course, because I could use the SC reward. The Sauceror did not gain nearly as much of an advantage, alas.

I'm still liking Hardcore, and given the lack of time I've generally got, it's not a bad way to go. That said, depending on what Crimbo content is rolled out (and when it's rolled), I might well end up dropping HC on this run if I need to (although I'd like to avoid that).

Fighting without my Mr. Accessories or other nifty items is tricky, and I haven't grabbed many of the new familiars as a result (I did make a Crane, but none of the others). I've played with some of the new content -- mostly the Spookyraven stuff -- but I still have plenty to explore.

The goal is to finish the two Moxie runs, then see whether I want to do some regular runs, or go for Oxy.
