Wednesday Morning notes
Jul. 18th, 2007 11:18 am1. Thanks to a timely post by CKD, I remembered that there was a new Suzanne Vega Album. I now have it. And it kicks ass. Which is basically redundant, since I already said "Suzanne Vega." (Yes, it really is better than the new Poison album, even.). It's especially wonderful if you've got any New York ties, as this is an incredibly NYC-centric album.
2. Night Shade Books is having a 50% off sale on in-stock and forthcoming books (with a four-book minimum). That includes next year's Greg Egan book (head's up,
kizlj), Kage Baker's Dark Mondays, Elizabeth Bear's The Chains that You Refuse, and lots of other good stuff. Coupon code is NSB0750
3. Miro (the video player formerly known as Democracy) is out! Yay! It's free, and runs on whatever OS you might have, be it OSX, Linux, or Miscellaneous.
4. A McFarlane MMO? I can only assume that instead of leveling up, your character's cape gets bigger, and the top characters have capes that span entire cities.
5. Free Ride, Downey, and Bounce samples!
6. Orlando Hernandez became the first pitcher to steal bases in back-to-back starts in forty years. Damned impressive, especially considering his age (whatever it might be).
7. James Macdonald has posted some great Emergency Medicine entries, and after the latest batch, he compiled a nice index to all of them. My goal is to never have to need any of the knowledge in these posts, but if I find myself in a situation that requires is, the more I can retain from them, the better.
8. Obligatory KOL update: FInished all the level 11 sub-quests. With 6 turns to go, alas, so no Ed the Undying for me today!
9. How kids are (not) using email.
10. Finally, the Smoking Gun has the full Michael Vick indictment. If the charges are accurate, he deserves way worse than he'll actually get.
