1. Peter Watts on Carpenter's The Thing, Cancer, and evolution.

2. Do not, whatever you do, let Yahoo -- any "branch" of it -- have access to your credit card info.

3. Want even more daily art? Over at his non-LJ blog, [livejournal.com profile] badlittlemonkey is posting a new drawing on a 3X5 index card each day.

4. The Hardball Times analyzes the best outfield arms of 2007 (and I have to admit that I was surprised that Beltran didn't come in higher). The note about Andruw Jones being more feared than accurate should give Jason Stark lots to write about.

5. Amazon's Deal of the Day is Driver: Parallel Lives for the Wii for $14.99 (50% off).

6. Although I certainly don't always agree with Scoble (and I think he screwed up big time in the Plaxo/Facebook kerfuffle), he's got a damned fine point about Facebook's reaction.

7. Walrus Angels are heretical!

8. There's a sequel to The Graduate (the novel, that is) coming out tomorrow? Not sure if I want it, or should run screaming from it.

9. PSP Owners can now use Skype.

10. Finally, updated weekend posts of note (for those what missed them):

A. Yendiopolis can still use more residents.

B. This post not only links to the Fucking Short version of The Big Lebowski, it also has a link to what happens when networks try to air the movie without the best words.

C. My thoughts on Skidoo. Also see [livejournal.com profile] montykins liveblogging of the movie here.

D. I love all of your suggestions for I Am Legend sequels.

E. And for those looking for active Amazon deals, this post has them.

Yes!

[livejournal.com profile] pnh explains the problems with that annoying "what candidate should you vote for" meme.

In the interest of both raising money and making my office slightly less uninhabitable (the pre-cleaning shot of Scalzi's office last week? I wish my office were half as organized), we've weeded through the graphic novel collection and come up with a bunch to sell. The list is posted at Google Docs (and I'll update nightly as items get removed).

Most of the books are either $2 (usually those thin graphic novels, often DC Prestige one-shots or issues of miniseries) or $5, with a few at $8. All have been read and a few have been very well read.

Postage will be whatever it actually costs me to mail it to you, so take that into account (that said, Media Mail will keep things decently cheap stateside). Local folks who can pick the stuff up, of course, don't have to worry about this.

There are two series of Prestige Format books in the $2 area that are marked with asterisks. If you buy the entire run of either one, it'll cost you only $5.

Email me at yendi (at) livejournal dot com if you're interested in any of the books.

"It's In His kiss" -- The way he acts doesn't matter, as long as he's a good kisser. So yeah, go for that hunk who treats you like dirt but kisses real nicely. You won't regret it. Really.

"Help Me, Rhonda" -- I can has rebound sex, pleez?

"Happy Together" -- Yeah, that whole "all my life" pledge? I used a double negative. Thanks for hopping into my bed, though.

So, if I somehow missed the first four seasons, is it even worth watching it? I'm a fan of tons of the actors, and I'm certainly convinced that I'll like the show in general. But is the fifth season accessible for those of us who missed the first four, or should I just track down the DVDs?
