This, folks, is why I never buy anything with a rebate (unless the cash price is already good, and the rebate would just make it even cheaper).

In spite of what this article says, I'm pretty sure that if I leave the toilet seat up, I won't be able to say, "but honey, what if a recently potty-trained toddler wanders into our bathroom and ends up with a crushed penis?"

Although, given the general stupidity of two of our cats, I suppose I could argue that I didn't want one of the morons to get bonked on the head while drinking toilet water. Then again, that's why I usually put the lid down as well as the seat.

Grr. The Deal of the Day is Angel: The Complete Series for $50.99 (64% off). We only have season 1, so this is very tempting, but I don't get paid until Monday. Want to bet that Monday's deal is "something Adam either has or has no use for?"

The Holi-Daily TV Deal is Season 1 of Samantha Who for $14.99 (50% off).

The Video game Deal of the Day is Tomb Raider Anniversary for the Wii for $19.98 (33% off).

The 15 Days, 15 Video Game Deals offer today includes assorted DS and Wii games: Cooking Mama 2, Goosebumps Horrorland, and Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns for the DS, and Ultimate I Spy, Goosebumps Horrorland, and Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii. All are 33-66% off.

The Friday Five MP3 Albums for $5 include albums from Young Jeezy, Faith Hill, Bloc Party, Starflyer 59, and Gustavo Dudamel and his Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela.

The MP3 Album of the Day is Hendrix's Electric Ladyland for $1.99.

As far as new deals that don't expire today go, The Doctor Who Collection -- featuring both Peter Cushing movies and the Dalekmania documentary -- is down to $20.99 (47% off).

Since last Tuesday, Settlers of Catan has dropped another three bucks to $24.99 (41% off). Carcassonne, meanwhile, has dropped to $17.99 (40% off).

The Batman: The Dark Knight Batmobile and Batpod set has dropped to $9.99 (67% off), and comes in the new Amazon Frustration-free packaging (no hard plastic shell cases or annoying twist ties).

The George Foreman 36-inch electric grill is down to $13.99 (53% off).

The Haier Die-Cast 2-slice toaster has dropped to $22.22 (56% off).

Finally, the Pinzon Microtec Plush Throws are once again down to $9.99 (75% off).

Forgot to post this with the others this morning, but it's probably better on its own, anyway.

Amazon's offer a deal (in assocation with the Ellen show, I guess) on
Amazon Prime, offering one month free, then a year for $59.

Prime offers free two-dayshipping on all orders, and discounted overnight shipping for $3.99 an item. It covers any item sold directly by Amazon (books, DVDs, video games, cameras, computers, etc), as well as any third-party stores who use Amazon's shipping services. We definitely get our money's worth out of it -- $4.99 DVD deals are much better when you don't have to add $3 for shipping or bump an order to $25, and since it applies to orders sent to any address, it covers our gift shipping nicely. Getting it for free during the holidays is a nice deal (although if you don't want it past the holidays, remember to put a note on your calendar to cancel before the month expires).

Pony!

'song often (as in, always) writes "pony" on the shopping list, and will usually shout "pony" whenever I say I'm heading to the store and ask if she needs anything.

Last night, we saw this commercial on TV:

It's cute for the flashback segment, then devolves into HOLY SHIT STUPID AND INSULTING when it gets to the part about buying a Lexus as a holiday gift. But the pony part is cute, at least.

As someone who is deathly allergic to horses, however, I much prefer this one, run by Verizon last year:

Keanu Reeves is often low-key in his roles, but in this movie, his piano has no keys at all. He is so solemn, detached and uninvolved he makes Mr. Spock look like Hunter S. Thompson at closing time. When he arrives at a momentous decision, he announces it as if he has been rehearsing to say: "Yes, one plus one equals two. Always has, always will."
